Bumper Bums on seats for Bus and Rail

24 March 2005

Translink has welcomed the latest edition of the Northern Ireland Road and Rail Transport statistics for the last quarter of 2004 which reports a rise of 3% in passenger journeys made by rail and bus users than in the corresponding quarter of 2003

Ciaran Rogan Translink’s Makerting Executive explained; “3% means on average there were an extra 40,000 more people travelling by bus each week and 4,000 by rail during the latter half of last year.  We are delighted by these results and clearly the increases demonstrate that passengers voting with their feet and that our strategy to improve services is working!”

The publication is produced by the Central Statistics and Research Branch of the Department for Regional Development and contains information on car registrations, light goods and heavy good registrations, vehicle and driving tests and use of Public Transport in Northern Ireland.
