New Director of Operations Appointed

Translink is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Philip O’Neill to the position of Director of Operations

Mr O’Neill has a long history of service with the company.  He began his career as Permanent Way Engineer with Northern Ireland Railways from 1988 to 1992.  This was followed by a position as Passenger Services Manager, with responsibility for operational activity in respect of stations and passenger services.  In 1996 he was appointed Cross-Border Product Manager and had a prominent role in the re-launch of the Enterprise service in 1997.  In 1999 he became Central Area Network Manager of Translink, responsible for Citybus (now Metro) and the Ulsterbus services within the Greater Belfast area.  In this role he was also responsible for the operation of many Goldliner services, including the cross-border Dublin Express.

Mr O’Neill commented; “I am delighted to have been appointed Director of Operations for Translink, these are exciting times for public transport in respect of the New Start for Public Transport Document and I am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”  

Mr O’Neill is a graduate of the University of Ulster at Jordanstown where he recently obtained a Masters in Business Administration.  He will take up his new responsibilities from the 1st December 2002 and report directly to the Managing Director.
