Translink’s committed efforts to be a customer-focused organisation, to make continuous improvements to the services its companies offer, and its commitment to developing employees have been recognised in its success in garnering a number of awards across a wide spectrum of competition areas.
The International Station Awards rewards the effort and commitment of railway stations who have worked hard to provide excellent passenger facilities and customer service. It showcases stations on an international platform and allows participating companies to learn from industry best practice and to develop strong working relationships with other rail operators.
Institution of Railway Signalling Engineers (IRSE) - 2008
Following successful application to become the only Assessing Agent for the Institution of Railway Signalling Engineers in Ireland, 6 personnel from the Signalling Department were presented with their licenses. These IRSE licenses are internationally recognised licenses and are the first to be presented to the NI Railways staff.

This event, held at Belfast's Waterfront Hall and hosted by television and radio personality Wendy Austin, was to recognise the engineering excellence of projects in Northern Ireland completed since 2000.
The Institution presented awards in six engineering categories, including Transportation Structures (sponsored by Fisher Engineering), which was won by the Translink Train Care Centre at Fortwilliam. The design team, lead by Arup, fought off stiff competition from other distinguished projects including Belfast City Airport and another Translink project, the Bangor Bus/Rail Interchange.
The award was collected by Chris Caves of Arup, accompanied by Tom McClintock of Translink.
HSBC Rail Business Awards 2007 - 27 February 2008 By giving customers the flexibilty of choosing when they wanted to travel and allowing them to determine the cost of their own day return fare, this campaign was recognised for increasing revenue and passenger journeys as well as creating positive brand awareness with new and existing customers, securing future growth for the future.
NICVA Link Awards - 12 February 2008
Translink has demonstrated its commitment to high standards of customer care following recognition at the recent NICVA Link Awards in Belfast.
Translink won first place in the Small Charity Category after being nominated by Shopmobility in Belfast. The award comes hard on the heels of a new Shopmobility scheme opening at Coleraine Bus & Rail Centre – so emphasising the widespread popularity of Shopmobility services.

Two of our Translink apprentices had success at these prestigious awards in London:
Clare Jameson was awarded "First Place".
Neil McCluskey was awarded the "Runner Up" prize.
At the International Rail Station Awards hosted by Northern Rail in York, Central Station picked up the award for best large station. On top of that it won the award for best station overall from all the categories.
These awards are judged by people who work in stations for each of the operators. They look at every aspect of customer service as well as cleanliness, facilities, signage, etc. – everything that passengers experience as they pass through the station.

This award was presented to Cinty Stubberfield and Peter Gulifoyle from the Translink Call Centre by Claire Byrne from TV3 at a gala presentation dinner.
Translink has been recognised as an accredited centre to deliver Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) First Line Management awards.
Translink has invested considerable time and effort in training staff across the company and this recognition highlights the dedication to further improving public transport through investment in people.
ILM is the largest qualification awarding and professional membership body in Europe for management and leadership vocational qualifications, in 2006 80,000 managers registered for ILM qualifications and awards.
The content of ILM programmes is linked to the latest management and leadership standards, ensuring relevant, current content and thinking. All qualifications feature work-based assessments designed to bring tangible business benefits to the learner and the organisation.
Lynda Shannon Communications Manager said: “It is very fitting that our ‘Dead Cert’ campaign won the PR Campaign of the Year. The health and safety of our passengers and staff is of paramount importance at all times and to this end we are delighted to receive national recognition for our efforts to generate awareness of the key safety issues.
We are also pleased that the customer service aspects of the new rail service and overall marketing campaign have been recognized, as delivery of this project has been a real team effort. "
