Travel Safe DVD  l  Committed to safety  l  To apply for a Travel Safe pack

Translink transports around 20% of Northern Ireland’s school population to and from school on a daily basis - that’s approximately 65,000 children and young people.

The safety and comfort of all passengers remains Translink’s top priority and our aim is to provide a safe and efficient transport system to the community. We believe our local schools can play a role in assisting to achieve this.

Travel Safe DVD and Learning Pack

Translink have produced an Educational Safety DVD and Learning Pack for young people called ‘Travel Safe’, which highlights the importance of safety on public transport. The pack has been specifically developed for use by Key Stage 3 pupils and their teachers.

Travel Safe dvd

The DVD is made up of a series of short documentary-style programmes and dramas for separate bus and rail services and has recently been redeveloped to include a new chapter focusing on the use of seatbelts and general road safety on or near buses.

The aim of this pack is that students will watch the DVD and then reflect on it through discussion and questioning. The notes attempt to put young people at the centre of their own learning-watching and then reflecting on the dramas in their own terms-relating to their environment and how they would feel in a similar situation.

Committed to Safety

Translink is committed to improving safety standards, however we require the full support and co-operation of everyone, including parents, schools, colleges, pupils and our staff  to ensure that the journey to and from school is a safe, reliable and comfortable experience.

Our priority is to keep our children safe and enjoy using public transport. We can do this by:

Translink is most willing to support this Educational Pack in other ways and if requested will:
